The Selwyn Library Toddler
Time sessions will start up the
first week of February.

Trialling Baby Time -- Rolleston
or Lincoln Libraries
The Selwyn Library is looking at trialling
a Baby-Time session for Term 1 in either
Rolleston or Lincoln Libraries.
The session is aimed at babies from birth to
18mths and involves songs, rhymes, bubbles

Book Club Rolleston Library
We are looking at starting up an adult's book
club in the Rolleston Library which will be held
once a month.

Suitable for those with arthritis or the less active who want to "use it, not
lose it". Come and enjoy this seated or standing aerobics class.
Ease into Exercise -- Feeling like you want to get back into, or try
exercise? Ease into exercise is perfect for you. This class is a gentle
exercise programme designed to get some physical activity back into your
life. Covering a range of exercise class styles. You will have fun and get
fit in a safe, positive environment.
Strengthen and Stretch -- Combining the benefits of yoga, pilates,
core strengthening and stretching, this class is a great way to build
strength, increase flexibility, and calm the body and mind. An optional
short relaxation session at the end tops off this beneficial exercise class.
Adult and Children's Golf Programmes -- The Rolleston
Community Centre's Adult and Children's Golf Programmes are now being
held on Sundays from 9 -- 11am at Burnham Golf Course. The starting date
for both courses is Sunday 17 February (Please note: this is different
from the days and times advertised in our brochure). Enrolments
are open now. This is a great opportunity for parents and their children
to learn golf at the same time.

Motorcycyle Skills Course
Selwyn District Road Safety are offering two Motorcycle courses
in February. To be eligible, you must hold a full motorcycle licence
and live in the Selwyn District
Course costs are highly subsidised, and at $50 per rider are
Slow pro is a ½ day course where riders can increase their
skill in slow manoeuvres.
Apex is a full day course for intermediate and advanced road
riders. It includes theory, slow skills, braking, and on-road

Waitangi Day Tour
Wednesday 6 February 2013
"Following the Styx River"
a tour through the Styx-Belfast area.
The bus will leave Southbridge at 9am, and call at Leeston and Lincoln.
The first sight of the River will be at Nunweek Park where a dry swale
shows the course it took from its source in the Harewood area.
A stop will be made at the Styx Mill Conservation Reserve
before going past the sites
of the CFM and Borthwick's
freezing companies (now
Silver Fern Farms), the Belfast
cemetery and the historic
Spring Grove homestead,
then along Marshlands Road
to the Janet Stewart Reserve
on Lower Styx Road.
From there the road follows
the river to Spencerville where a stop will be made at Spencer Park for
lunch. This can be taken and eaten at one of the tables or purchased at
the Cafe. The tour continues along the river, past the Boating Reserve
to Brooklands, to see the Brooklands lagoon.
It is then back across the river where the floodgates can be seen, to
Kainga and Stewarts Gully. If time is available, stops may be made at
The Groynes and Clearwater, returning to Southbridge about 4.30pm.

One sheep found in Highfield Road over the week of
14th January. This sheep was someone's pet.
Sheep found in Darfield: 1 corriedale ewe, 6 coopworth
lambs & 2 coopworth ewes have been found near Cullens
& McLaughlins Roads.
