CENTRAL CANTERBURY NEWS, APRIL 24, 2013
Boil water notice --
A precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for
the Springfield water supply. Heavy rainfall has occurred
in recent days. This has increased the turbidity in the
source water of the Springfield water supply. No E.coli
has been detected in the water supply. However as result
of the increased turbidity, the Council cannot guarantee
the water is safe to drink and as a precaution has issued
a boil water notice. Springfield residents will need to boil
their water for at least 3 minutes until further notice.
Chlorination of the water supply has been increased.
The council will continue to monitor the intake and
reticulation system and keep residents informed.

Recycle your old TV
Canterbury will switch over to digital
TV on 28 April. You don't need to
buy a new TV to go digital. However,
if you do decide to upgrade, please
dispose of your old TV responsibly.
TVs contain materials, like lead, that
are hazardous to the environment
and people's health if they are
dumped into the environment or in
landfills, so they should be recycled.
The Council is being subsidised by
the Ministry for the Environment to
provide a TV recycling service for up
to 1,810 TVs. The Council will also
meet some of the recycling costs.
You can recycle your old TVs for
free until either 5 May, or we reach
the total number of TVs we can
collect. You can drop your TV off at
the following locations:
• Pines Resource Recovery Park
(183 Burnham School Road,
Rolleston). Open for TV collection:
Saturdays and Sundays -- 10am
• Sicon Yard (2 Mathias Street,
Darfield). Open for TV collection:
Saturdays only -- 9am to 1pm.
Computer screens are not being
accepted as part of the TV takeback
On the first two weekends of TV
recycling we collected 981 TVs out
of a total of 1,810 that we can take.
