The closing date for Creative NZ -- Creative
Communities Scheme funding applications is
Friday 31 May. $4,500 is available this funding
round. For more information about criteria,
contact the scheme administrator,
at the Selwyn District Council,

Looking for funding for
yourself or your group?
Selwyn District Council provides funding at a
ward level to support groups and individuals
whose work helps improve community
wellbeing in Selwyn.
Supporting people to reach their goals such
as representing the district (e.g. at regional,
national or international competitions),
or carrying out volunteer work can benefit
Selwyn district in a variety of ways, for
example through having access to sports
coaching, mentoring or through volunteer
service to the district.
These funds are dispersed by the Malvern
Community Board (for Malvern ward), the
Selwyn Central Community Board (for Selwyn
Central) and Springs/Ellesmere councillors
(for the Springs and Ellesmere wards), with
research and advice on each application
provided by Council staff.
We are now inviting applications for funding.

Sport New Zealand
Rural Travel Fund
Sport New Zealand funds are available for
Selwyn sports teams who need to travel
to local competitions and have members
aged 5 -- 19 years. School competitions
in school time are not eligible.

Applications for this funding round for
winter sports teams close Friday, 31 May.
Applications are being invited from Selwyn
residents (or people living or working in
Selwyn), for the 2013 Gansu International
The programme allows one Selwyn resident to
visit the city of Lanzhou, in the Gansu Province
in China, to learn Chinese and be immersed in
the local culture for two months.
Travel and accommodation costs are paid by the
Gansu government. The fellowship recipient will
also have the opportunity to visit Gansu's major
facilities and tourist attractions.
Shandan in Gansu Province is a sister city of

should be under 45 years old, in good health, be
a University graduate, and be willing to present
information about Selwyn District.

effects, many activities need a resource
consent from the Council.
You have the right to inspect the full consent
application received by council at any Council
Service Centre during normal office hours
or view on the council website www.selwyn.
govt.nz and make a submission supporting or
opposing the proposal.
Any person may make a submission but a
person, who is a trade competitor of the
applicant, may do so only if that person is
directly affected by an effect of the activity to
which the application relates that
(a) adversely affects the environment and
(b) does not relate to trade competition or
the effects of trade competition.

The Council is conducting a survey of rate
payers on the Ellesmere Water Race Network
to better understand how users value and use
The results from the survey will assist with
informing the development of Council's Water
Race Strategy, and engagement with Central
