Annual Plan adopted
Our Annual Plan for the coming year has now
been adopted. 92 submissions were received
on the draft plan, covering a range of issues,
drainage, community halls and other topics.
This year's Annual Plan also includes $1
The money will be used to continue to
maintain roads to their current standard,
as the level of funding the Council receives
from the New Zealand Transport Agency
has reduced. Submissions from the public
indicated that people did not want the
standard of roads in the district to decline.
We will be looking at how it can continue to
fund road maintenance work in future years
with a reduced level of government subsidy.
As part of the Annual Plan, the Council also
consulted on a proposal to liquidate Selwyn
Investment Holdings Limited (SIHL). This
proposal has now been approved by the
Council, and will remove overhead costs
previously associated with running the
company and increase investment income.
5.3% -- down from 5.8% proposed in the Long
Term Plan. Actual rate increases will vary, as
they depend on the services ratepayers receive
and the relative change in their property value
following a revaluation across the district.
Mayor Kelvin Coe is thanking submitters who
made submissions and attended a hearing.
Staff will be writing to submitters to advise
them of the response to their submission.
