to attend a community meeting at
wide stormwater issues and longer term
options to address this.
If you're eligible to vote in the upcoming
local body elections, you should have
received an enrolment update pack in
the mail recently.
Local body elections take place between
20 September and 12 October, so make
sure you're on the electoral roll.
If you've received a pack, check your
details. If they're correct you don't need
to do anything -- your voting papers will
be sent to you from 20 -- 25 September.
If you need to update them, make the
changes on the form and post it to the
Registrar of Electors now.
If you haven't received a pack, you're not
enrolled to vote. It's easy to enrol -- to
get a pack either:

You should enrol to vote by Friday, 16
August. If you're not enrolled to vote
by this date you'll have to cast a special

Nominations for candidates for the
role of Mayor, Councillors, Community
Board and Canterbury District Health
Board members are now open.
Nominations must be received by 12
noon on Friday 16 August 2013.
Each candidate must be nominated on
the official nomination paper available
during normal office hours from the

The form is also available by phoning

copy to be posted.
A hardcopy nomination (as opposed to
a copy emailed or extracted from the
council website) is required as each
different nomination type has a different
colour to make it easier to process
The Electoral Officer will hold an
information session for prospective
candidates in the Council Headquarters
Building, 2 Norman Kirk Drive, Rolleston
at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 30 July 2013.
Anyone interested in becoming a
candidate is invited to attend.
Revised Rules for council
Revised rules for council management
committees holding Triennial Elections
were adopted by the Council at its
meeting of the 26 June 2013.
These rules are available on the council
website at www.selwyn.govt.nz.
These revised rules have been prepared
to take into account a number of
matters that have been raised with
the council over the past three years
since the last round of management
committee triennial elections.

Register your dog
If you own a dog but haven't registered it for
the coming year, now is the time to do so. Dog
owners have until the end of July to get their
dogs registered to avoid a penalty fee being
applied. If you have a new dog or a puppy over
3 months old you will also need to register
them with the Council. Registering your dog
also helps us to reunite you with your dog if
they go missing.
